Our History
Pathway Vineyard Church is a member of the Vineyard Association of Churches. The Vineyard Association of Churches is a network of Charismatic Churches that were birthed out of the Jesus Movement in the 1970s, with a shared understanding and application of Kingdom Theology. The church was founded by Pastor Jim Robb in 1987 as Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church. Within three months, the congregation started meeting at Fred M. Lynn Middle School in Woodbridge VA. In 1991, the church began leasing commercial space at 13550 Jefferson Davis Highway, Woodbridge Virginia, 22191. Pastor Jim Robb championed charismatic, relevant and Spirit filled church services that allowed the church to significantly grow. Equipped with a large sanctuary and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, the church organically began ministering to the homeless and needy in the local Woodbridge community. In 2002 Pastor Jim Robb was called home to be with the Lord, and Pastor Rick Franz faithfully administered the transition from the founding pastor, while providing care, strong discipleship, biblical teaching and the comfort the church needed. In 2004, Pastor Rick Franz received the call to lead a non-profit ministry in Florida and Pastor Dan Davis was entrusted to shepherd the church. In 2008, with the Lord’s guidance and prompting, Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church purchased its own facilities located at 1550 Prince William Parkway, Woodbridge Virginia, 22191 with the first service being held there on Easter Sunday, 2008. Pastor Dan Davis exercised his gifts in executive administration whereby he expanded the pastoral staff, adding Pastor Rose Powers and Associate Pastor Greg Perkins. He helped Streetlight Community Outreach Ministries under the leadership of Rose Powers to become an independent non-profit ministry. Pastor Dan Davis added “Pathway Vineyard Church” as a DBA (Doing Business As) name for the church, and embarked on numerous facility renovation projects, to help modernize and make contemporary the look and feel of the church. In 2012, Pastor Dan Davis stepped down and Pastor Mark Pertuit was entrusted with the leadership of the church. In the first year of Pastor Mark Pertuit, Pastor Greg Perkins accepted the call to move Brussels Belgium to pastor a church. Pastor Mark helped resurface some of the Vineyard Movement roots within the church body and encouraged members to actively exercise the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Mark stepped down in late 2017, and Pastor Kornel Gyalokay received the call from the Lord to steward Pathway Vineyard Church. Pastor Kornel has brought a practical theology focus to the church and heightened the personal ownership, role and participation of its members in the daily life of the church. Pastor Kornel has picked up and expanded upon the scope of the vision for the facility and administrative modernization efforts started by Pastor Dan Davis. Pastor Kornel longs to see the charismatic and passionate character of our founding pastor resurface through our church culture (cultivating an unquenchable passion for Jesus), raise up champions for Christ, and plant additional Vineyard Churches from Pathway Vineyard Church in the coming years as God multiplies our numbers.
